A recent Mechanical Engineering graduate from the Colorado School of Mines, I am seeking employment primarily within the fields of HVAC, construction, and medical devices. I have extensive academic design experience, exceptional communication skills (written and oral), and an acute attention to detail. In addition to membership with Tau Beta Pi, my academic record includes an essay contest award and Certified SolidWorks Associate.

      Background:
My journey toward a degree in Mechanical Engineering began when I joined the Navy's nuclear program as a Machinist's Mate. Those experiences are what led to my decision to switch majors after a year of pursuing an English degree, and while I still very much enjoy writing and literature, I feel I've found my place as an Engineer.

As a non-traditional student who went back to school after having my fill of low-wage jobs, I have experience in a variety of fields. While those experiences may have little input to a future career as a mechanical engineer, they did teach me the value of hard work and helped me to understand just how privileged I am. I am both creative and analytical. Utilizing both sides of my brain near equally I am an excellent communicator with an aptitude for technical skills, and I am eager to enter a career in which I can leverage the balance I have cultivated with my diverse background.

While my summary thus far has introduced to you my professional side, I would be remiss in ignoring those things personal. When I'm not busy geeking out over the amazing tech I get to learn about and work with, I am a devoted wife and mother, novice PC enthusiast, and home baker and chef who enjoys outdoor sports and exploring museums of all kinds with my family. Because family and community are important to me, I am always striving to make those places in which we live and work better for all.
