They are now looking for a Senior Development Engineer to be based at their HQ near Crawley. [h=2]Job Description[/h]The Senior Development Engineer is accountable for the safe and reliable design of an aircraft seat across multiple programmes. Job responsibilities: To have technical ownership for the assigned seating modules, to scope out the requirements, agree on and manage targets. To be responsible for the development of products from concept through to certification and production readiness. To design and engineer products at a component and system level that achieve all requirements. Innovation. Create new ideas and investigate and apply alternative materials and manufacturing processes to reduce weight, cost, assembly time and improve performance. To continually strive to achieve targets. Verify designs through calculations and analysis and validate the product through evaluation and testing against the targets set. To determine and manage timescales, priorities and deadlines. To elevate and propose solutions when at risk of deviating from the plan. To manage and delegate activities to less senior engineering team members. [h=2]The Successful Applicant[/h]Essential A Mechanical Engineering degree Extensive post graduate experience in a mechanical related field utilising design engineering and CAD for product design, development and manufacture. Must be capable of undertaking fundamental hand calculations including stress analysis. Experience of product evaluation and structural testing to validate the product against the targets set. Sufficient exposure to the latest manufacturing techniques such as composites, injection mouldings, vacuum forming, castings, forgings, extrusions and machined from solid. Must prove sufficient parametric 3D CAD capability with both solid and surface modelling using best practice techniques. Must be an excellent communicator both verbally and written. Must be capable of adapting to a fast and pressured environment. Desirable Degree achieved to be 2:1 or above. Experience in an aerospace seating environment. Catia V5 CAD & SmarTeam PDM system exposure. Has shown a consistent ability to problem solve and propose innovative ideas.
