I want to design and build an Active aerodynamics package for a car, what motors do you suggest i use that will be water proof and very, very durable and good quality that will allow movement of my flaps/parts thus creating the active aerodynamics?
We have just created the actuator for the underbody aerodynamic system for the new Porsche 918 spyder. Defining how and when the system will work will assist in defining the loads and therefore the motor/actuator size. We use a very small and lightweight motor and gearbox.
Front spoiler and rear wing are now completely extended. The ‘turbo’ or ‘turbo S’ logo can be seen on the front swing lip. Also, in this position, the rear spoiler is tilted by up to 15 degrees. Thanks to the high level of downforce on the front and rear axles, in this setting the car can release its full performance potential, for example on the racetrack. The downforce also provides advantages when braking at high speeds.
Don't you hate it when you ask a question and all you get is spam..... Just Google "motors for active aerodynamics" and you will get an idea of what is available. I would think this is the type you would want, a DC motor/gearbox that is not back-drivable. http://www.nookindustries.com/News/Aerodynamic_Racing_Actuation#figure1
