I am working on designing a guitar bridge. On requirement that I presently have is to have a threaded post with a flathead screw head that lies horizontal that can be turned either direction that will "somehow" turn another threaded post that is perpendicular. The direction the vertical post turns would be contingent upon the direction the horizontal screw is turned. Does such a thing exist? What is it called? Thank you in advance for my likely hard to understand problem.

A worm gear would do what you want. That is what I have seen to adjust the tension on the strings of an acoustic guitar.

Thank you this is exactly what I'm looking for but for a different application. I'm trying to design a new component.
