      Animax Designs, http://www.animaxdesigns.com world renowned design firm in Nashville, TN is looking to hire design engineer to help facilitate the design of three-dimensional mechanical characters including mechanized puppets, servo and cable articulated costume characters, and high quality animatronics and robotics for live attractions and theme parks. In-house design to manufacturing process utilizes laser scanning, 3D digital sculpting, rapid prototyping, and extensive 3 and 5 axis CNC machining methods. Applicant’s responsibilities would include rough conceptual design, 2D/3D sketch work, reverse engineering using 2D artwork and scan data, integration of 2D and 3D CAD modeling within organic sculptural structures, multiple iteration prototyping, and generation of final design/shop drawings and as-built documentation. Individual must have ability to collaborate with a team in fast paced environment, have good intuition and understanding of geometry, kinematics & biomechanics, as well as a mastery of push-pull cable systems, direct linkage and spring design, servo & pneumatic actuators, robotic system design, and structural steel/aluminum framework design and engineering. Knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD is prerequisite. Experience in Rhino, 3DS Max, Adobe Photoshop & Coreldraw are a plus. BS or Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in entertainment design, industrial/product/toy design, or specialty in animatronics. Individual should be able to demonstrate prior experience and passion for puppetry, robotics, or animatronics. FT position with benefits - salary based on qualifications and experience.
