      Electro-Mechanical CAD Designer

      Would you like to be involved with the design of cutting edge systems and assemblies for the defence industry? BAE Systems is looking for an Electro-Mechanical CAD Designer to join our team in Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

      As an Electro-Mechanical CAD Designer, you will be developing the 2D and 3D CAD designs and drawings for a wide range of complex equipment for Royal Navy’s surface ships and submarines.


      Your main responsibilities as an Electro-Mechanical CAD Designer will involve:

      Taking conceptual information from Lead Designers to refine and develop into 2D and 3D solid model designs

      Generation of procurement and manufacturing data packs

      Overseeing of the initial manufacture of the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] off designs and working with Manufacturing Technicians to identify design improvements

      Liaising with sub-contractors and suppliers

      Managing the engineering change activities for your areas of design

      Adapting ‘off the shelf’ technology and assemblies to make them suitable for the naval environment


      As an Electro-Mechanical CAD Designer, your skills and qualifications must include:

      Experienced in 2D and 3D electro-mechanical CAD design

      HNC or equivalent level qualification in a Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering discipline

      An understanding of Electrical drawing practices.


      As an Electro-Mechanical CAD Designer, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

      Experience of Unigraphics NX 8.5 and NX Ideas CAD systems

      Experience of design for manufacture and design for maintainability practices

      Experience of designing to meet Environmental requirements, including EMC, shock and vibration

      Interpersonal skills to a high standard to obtain information from multi-disciplinary teams

      Competent with Microsoft Office applications


      What we're looking for in you:

      We are looking for you to be a self-starter, and able to execute tasks with minimal supervision. You must be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary team and seeking advice from subject matter experts where needed.


      Grade: 15
