Hello all,

I am trying to find a method how to attach a small about 5 to 10 kg object to a (slow) moving (steel and plastic covered) cable.
The object has to be able to be attached at any point on the cable.
My idea is to use a braking device for this but I don't know how to do this without damaging the steel cable.

Any ideas?

Use hooks

 

@prataps625: The problem is that the cables have to go across several pulleys so I dont know If hooks are useable
But if I want to use hooks what type is best to be used to allow the unit to be attached as fast as possible?

 

I would use Shackles or Carabiners

Magnets

Have you tried Magnets?

 

If possible to attach magnets to either work or transport that might be an option as would be velcro both fulfill the "quick pick-up".

 

Have you looked into grips like they use on ski lifts?
