The successful candidate will have experience in precision component design for electrochemical cell stacks. The individual should also have strong component design experience including analysis of mechanical stress and deformation, fluid flow, load distribution, tolerancing, and design for manufacturability, including detailed documentation and in depth technical review. Responsibilities: Design of electrochemical cell stack components for mechanical robustness, uniform fluid distribution, and manufacturability. Documentation of test plans, technical reports, drawings, and assembly processes. Collaboration with manufacturing representatives to design for mistake-proofing and volume production considerations. Evaluation of component suppliers with manufacturing representative; development of inspection criteria based on critical dimensions and properties. Support manufacturing group in disposition of non-conforming product and troubleshooting and technical service group in field returns. Minimum Qualifications: Three or more years of industry related experience (fuel cells, fluidics, gas separation, flow batteries). Experience with 3D CAD (Pro/E strongly preferred). Experience with FEA (Pro/Mechanica preferred). Motivated self starter with high level of initiative and creative approach to problem solving. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple tasks. Capable of working well in a multi-disciplinary team environment with high degree of collaboration. Education and/or Experience: BSME or MSME or equivalent. Skills and Experience should include most of the following: Design of seals, flow plates, and precision components. Working knowledge of electrochemical devices. Work experience in support of manufacturing operations. Supplier interaction and evaluation. Working familiarity with safe work practices and hazard analysis.
