?? Airplanes can't fly with a factor of safety of 2.0?? An airplane could fly with a factor of safety of .1. I think to myself what was the FoS for the wright brother's plane. Something doesn't have to be safe to fly.

lately the quality of work is very subjective! :) I will say that if the work reaches the goal then it is quality work.

Product which is ' Fit for Use ' can be defined in very simple and effective sense.

I have been in the aviation industry for 18 years. I've designed several aircraft including the 787 Dreamliner, Section 41. Quality is very subjective, but with Boeing, they have tremenous paperwork that defines quality. So, with my experience as a Quality Assurance and Engineer, Quality is something that the customer will not complain about it. Simple as that.

There are too many ways. It depends on you how can you elaborate your product quality.

I disagree with you on this. I have helped designed the 787, and we have had FoS around 2 or more. The history of FoS wasn't really developed until late 19th Century, so I doubt that the Wright Brothers even thought of it while they were building an airplane.

How about "It meets or exceeds the customers expectations".

      To me, Quality means:

1 - A product that looks like it's not going to break and does not break with common usage.
2 - A product that does what the box says it does or what it's supposed to do.
3 - A product that it's easy to do what it's supposed to do without complications.
4 - A product that lasts longer than the guaranty (at least 50% more).
5 - A product that looks aesthetically pleasant and that looks like someone invested in good design.
