      The Design Process Engineer is directly accountable to the Director of Engineering to support the design-related engineering function, identify and recommend/implement potential improvements to existing designs and manufacturing methods. New designs and processes must conform to requirements. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

      Essential Duties & Responsibilities
      · Produce new component drawings including, cork, reel seats, butt caps, winding checks, socks, tubes, and other essential components related to design engineering, using 3D modeling and other computer-aided design. Drawings must be checked for tolerance, interference and conformance to requirements.· Create new and update existing tooling drawings.· Test designs, including physical testing, theoretical outputs, mathematical predictions, and yield.· Develop and maintain database for design measurements and testing results. · Evaluate existing designs for strength and tolerance to merge with current design and manufacturing criteria. · Test raw materials including pre-preg, plastics, adhesives, cork, foam, and composite grip materials.· Develop equipment for testing and analysis; for example, Pre-preg cutting machine, 10,000 cycles hook-setting machine, flex capturing, and tip-only breakage. · Provide assistance as needed to manufacturing and product management support.· Create drawings and documentation to support Company presentations. · Work with improvement team to ensure smooth & complete transition of new components and tools required.

      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
      To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
      · Bachelor’s degree in Design Engineering + 1 year experience; or equivalent combination of education & experience.
      · Practical experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
      · Knowledgeable in design creation using modeling, drafting, and reverse engineering (2D & 3D).
      · Understanding of product design and manufacturing process capabilities.
      · Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite, and drafting/design programs (including Inventor, SolidWorks)
      · Knowledge of 3D modeling machines and production on those types of machines; practical work experience in this area highly desirable.
      · Analytical problem-solving & math skills in order to gather & summarize data for reports, find solutions to various problems.
      · Excellent “hands-on†knowledge of tooling and materials.
      · Proven success on a cross-functional team.
      · Understanding importance of manufacturing efficiency and high yield.
      · Familiarity with API, ASME, and ANSI standards.
      · Self-motivated with keen interest in quick learning and applying new skills.
      · Follows written and verbal instructions
      · Meets deadlines with limited supervision
      · React quickly to changing requirements and new procedures
      · Able to communicate technical information, and communicate effectively & professionally with customers & external contacts to the organization.
      · High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive & confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact & diplomacy.
      · Work requires continual attention to detail in composing & proofing materials, establishing priorities & meeting deadlines.
