Difference between slot , HOle & groove ?

A slot is long and usually has straight edges a hole is round. A groove is similar to a slot however ; a grove usually is pointed at the intersection of the sides.

      To rephrase John's post.

Hole: circular cutout, either through the material or to a blind depth. O
Slot: an elongated hole. It is stretched in one direction but still has full radii on the ends. (_______) A slot is cut into a flat plate or normal to the axis of a cylinder.
Groove: a groove is a cylindrical slot. |_| Grooves are cut around the OD or ID of a cylinder and do not pass through the axis of the cylinder.
