I am a new to Inventor. When I place dimensions on a sketch they appear as "driven" in parentheses. What should I change in settings to make dimensions standard and editable? Thank you.

I'm guessing there are constraints that are driving the dimensions. Press F8 to show constraints, left-click on one to highlight, right-click to bring up the menu, and select delete. When creating a sketch, Inventor automatically assigns constraints when it can. To prevent this, hold down ctrl while sketching.

You have done what is called "double dimensioning". Your driven dimension is a result of other dimensions. For instance, you cannot (or shouldn't anyways) dimension a hole from both the left edge, and the right edge. You should dimension your sketch in a manner as similar as possible to the way you wish to have it set up for machining.
