      Our Gits Manufacturing business is adding an Engineering Leader to their Business Unit Leadership team at their locations in Creston and Urbandale Iowa. Reporting to the Business Unit Leader, the Engineering Leader position has overall responsibility for the engineering team and is a key member of the Business Unit Leadership Team.

      Key Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
      • Functions typically includes, engineering work relating to new product development, process engineering, application of automation and advanced technology.
        Leads a team of engineers, program managers and the testing and proto laboratory, total 18 people.
        Work with Sales Leadership, Business Development Leadership, Chief Technology Officer and Segment Growth/Innovation Team in setting strategic requirements for developing product and technology roadmaps in the Business Unit.
        Proficient in communicating throughout the organization with various group sizes both internal and external, and to senior management. Ability to craft and deliver messages aimed at improving Engineering efficiency, innovation and employee satisfaction. Meets regularly with key customer Engineering leads.
        Leads weekly game plan meetings with Product Marketing - sets priorities and adjusts resource requirements as needed. Participates as a key member of the Business Leadership team.
        Drives cross-functional teamwork; rewards performance in program execution; drives continuous improvement in all aspects of Engineering processes.
        Understanding of business unit metrics, finances, and actively contributes to business level decisions and annual operating plan (AOP); i.e. authorization for expenditure.
        Develops trusting relationships with Customer Engineering and business leadership; helps Gits Manufacturing positioning as vital business partner with key customers across all products in the Business Unit.
        Proactively seeks ways of improving Engineering effectiveness through cross-functional interactions and alignment at the Business Unit level. Drives continuous improvement and works closely with subordinates/leadership to understand issues and potential opportunities. Maintains positive attitude in dealing with difficult issues and business conditions. Helps implement policies and Procedures. Participates in creation of business and functional strategy.
        Responsible for full support and driving the implementation of the New Product Development process (PA-131).
        Responsible for adherence to the PA 131 specified gate review process during all product launch activities (basic APQP skills).
        Responsible for all pre-production product builds (prototypes) through the PPAP stage.
        Responsible for execution of all product validation (DVPR) testing and building out testing capabilities.
      Required Skills
      • Knowledge of 3D design software, preferable Solid Works
        Knowledge of Simulation software
        Knowledge of Process engineering
        Skilled in FMEA, DFA, DFM and other design tools.
        Strong program management acumen.
        International experience Europe and China.
      Required Experience
      • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent Technical Education.
        Master’s degree is a plus (not required).
        At least 5 years of progressive new product development engineering/management experience within a manufacturing organization with responsibility for managing a staff.
        Experience in automotive or heavy equipment industry is needed, knowledge of APQP quality system.
