Position: Fabrication Manager Company: A global industrial equipment manufacturer of innovative and efficient industrial air pollution control solutions Location: Lake Zurich, IL Employment Type: Full Time/Permanent & Direct hire job POSITION Position is responsible for mechanical system engineering design, engineering documentation and the system fabrication resources necessary to support the building of equipment adhering to company established quality standards. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · Provide assistance with mechanical design engineering of custom equipment including catalytic oxidizers, thermal oxidizers, regenerative thermal oxidizers, filter systems, heat exchangers, heat recovery systems, burner systems, etc. · Provide mechanical engineering and fabrication expertise on custom equipment. · Manage distribution of all company subcontracted work and all costs associated with mechanical subcontracts. · Travel to vendor and/or customer to resolve issues. · Plan, direct and coordinate engineering functions and fabrication resources as related to new projects and modification or design changes to existing projects. · Interface with project manager and sales to insure all aspects of project application are considered and incorporated in equipment design and project execution. · Maintain close surveillance over total assigned projects to effect sound application of scientific and engineering principles and adequate research to assure highest technological specifications and manufacturability are met or exceeded. · Maintain established product quality standards through manufacturing. · Maintain design records pertaining to each assigned project. · Participate in consultations to determine procedures; evaluate designs, test data, feasibility of projects relative to manufacturing costs, sales potential and other pertinent considerations. · Implement systems to ensure safety, performance and reliability of products according to established policy; provide annual evaluations. · Develop methods for continuous quality improvement techniques that address company procurement costs, system performance enhancements, and improved delivery lead times. · Complete all work, including drawing work, pursuant to engineering schedule. · Participate in activities to increase personal skill level, overall departmental processes and product quality. · Resolve day-to-day issues by working and communicating effectively with others. · Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS & ABILITIES · Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent plus 5 years of experience in related field. · Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical or Design Engineer assigned in designing and/or manufacturing heavy gauge sheet metal fabrication. · Experience with Auto Cad software · Broad-based knowledge of materials, and manufacturing techniques. · Ability to solve complex problems and arrive at practical solutions. · Ability to read, understand and check fabrication and layout drawings. · Advanced skills in communication, teamwork and building interpersonal relationships. · Advanced skills in organization, time management, flexibility and decision making ability. MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS · Office environment (75%); customer and/or job sites (25%) · Ability to travel to job site, customer or supplier – ability to stay out of town overnight. · 20/40 vision required with or without correction. · Ability to exert physical force to push, pull, lift or carry 50 pounds occasionally by one’s self.
