Hi Guy, I am only new to this forum so i hope this post goes ok. I am trying to find out what force is required to rotate the bin about a pivot point using a hydraulic cylinder . Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have tried to link a pdf of the problem. Hope it works. Thanks in advance.
Hi Mechaboy, Thanks for having a look. I cant seem to upload PDFs or maybe just cant see where. I have attached a link to a dropbox where the problem is. Maybe this will work. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8m6fe3o9zcdhvz0/tipper.pdf Help much appreciated.
Hi, The 2 dimensions represent the closed centre dimensions and open centre dimensions of a hydraulic cylinder. The green box represents a bin which will be filled with a mass no greater than 400kg. I am trying to calculate the force required from a hydraulic cylinder to rotate the bin around the pivot point when fully loaded. Thanks.
Hi Craygon, I tried to solve it using vectors with a force acting downward and a force acting inward with the force I require being the resultant vector. I don't think this method holds through when thinking of it in 3D. Am I way off the mark with this. Thanks.
