Hi, the pump when it spins fast enough becomes a rotary compression engine. The air is compressed along the spiral path and explodes when the phase changes occurs at the periphery. The four stroke cycle happening along the spiral path. What Tesla is saying is the pump becomes a motor and become self regulating like a DC motor. What would be really helpful is being able to work out what motor would be needed. I’ve just tried a 4hp motor and it ran out of torque using 2.2:1 at 2100rpm. So at a guess I would now think perhaps 10hp would be a big enough starter motor. However I would need a new controller and bracket. So instead I’m opting for an aluminium rotor instead of a mild steel rotor as it should be approx 11-12kg rather than 27kg. My aim is to prove this is a rotary compression engine ASAP as if it is that would be world changing!
As I said, magical thinking. That's not what Tesla was saying. He was describing the very ordinary understanding that a pneumatic pump, run in reverse, is a pneumatic motor, and is describing his device being used for either use (one at a time, of course). It is 'self-regulating' because, as a motor, it will actually tend to slow itself down at high speeds, due to the radial air flow.
Yes you correct about the pump centrifugal head increasing and the motor it decreasing. It happens in the turbine when used with the port because it isn't really a turbine using the port, it is a motor. 4 stroke engines are air pumps. The Tesla pump is an air pump. The flat disc compresses the air and the tear shaped hole chops the air and decompresses it. This sets up the perfect situation for the explosions at the periphery as the air phase changes to cloud. Like I said it is a rotary compression engine. https://teslauniverse.com/nikola-te...gy-or-deriving-energy-fluid-and-apparatus-use "In the preceding it has been assumed that the pressure of supply is constant or continuous, but it will be understood that the operation will be, essentially, the same if the pressure be fluctuating or intermittent, as that due to explosions occurring in more or less rapid succession." I can't believe there isn't a motor calculator. We are on the cusp of discovering the new "fire"!
Of course I'm right I engineer for a living, and, as Tesla says, he's not describing anything complicated. Anyone 'skilled in the art', i.e. conversant in the physics of mechanisms, will immediately get it. And, no, it has nothing to do with your mythical port. It's a property of any spinning object. The only relationship to a port is orientation. As a pump, the intake is near the center and the outlet at the periphery. As a motor, it's the opposite. And your bolded quote only states that this will be true regardless of the smoothness of the airflow fed into the device. Because, as I said, it's a property of any spinning object
What you are missing is the whole British patent 24,001 is talking about two machines which can be combined into two stages. Also Tesla spent his whole life harnessing the power of water. First there was Niagra Falls, the first ever power station. Nothing mythical about a port, you have made that up yourself. Stop trying to belittle me and my research. I'm the one actually doing the experiments to help you and others! So are you going to help me with my motor calculation? The pump is a four stroke cycle engine with the events happening along the spiral path. I've got the machine built in my workshop. Now are you going to help me to get it up to speed to show you that it works?
What you are missing is that what Tesla wrote, as he himself attests, isn't some kind of secret. It's easily understood by anyone familiar with the subject matter. Listen, I'm not saying (now) that your invention doesn't work. But it sure as heck isn't what Tesla was describing.
Your opinion is based on these patents rather than all the articles Tesla wrote about this invention to point the way. Tesla is talking in code. He does because he had 33 patents denied just by US patent office alone. I see through the code because I’ve studied Tesla for 10 years and I’ve been on this full time now for nearly a year. The patents are full of double meanings. Have you ever read “The Problem of Increasing Human Energy” Nikola Tesla 1900? Now that is full of double and triple meanings! It talks about how Tesla is going to harness nature using atmospheric heat and how Tesla deduced it was possible.
He's writing in plain English about well understood phenomenon. As he himself attests. Easily understood if you have the background, which, unfortunately you have made abundantly clear you do not. There is not a shred of evidence he's talking in code. The only reasons you think he is are: A) you don't understand the basic phenomena he's describing or the technical terms he's using, so you find his writings arcane. B) you desperately want it to be a code
I strongly disagree with your opinion but it is going to take a working prototype to convince anyone. So I carry on with my experiments regardless. Here is the latest version v0.285 We have reached a new top speed 2870rpm but it is still shy of the transonic or supersonic rotor speeds needed for the phase change to occur. I have upgraded the motor to a 4hp 3 phase 2 pole motor and added an 8" cooling fan and ducting. The conclusion is the rotor is too heavy for the motor and bearings and I will be building an aluminium rotor this week and getting it balanced for v0.29 The aluminium rotor should weight approx 2.5 times less than the 27kg rotor. I estimate it to be around 11-12kg. Stay tuned!
