I am involved in designing a new line of handles for 19" rack-mounted equipment. I am trying to get a feel for how strong they need to be. If you design, or manufacture, a rack-mounted instrument that is particularly heavy I'd like to hear what size it is (in rack units) and how much it weighs.

We have done rack mount 2u or 3u kit -6kg and 1u rack mount rechargable batteries - 10kg (was upto 14kg). So a fair range of size / mass which makes your job very tricky!
