Hi, I am looking for calculating the axial load bearing capacity of uniform cross-section snap rings with circular section for solid shafts. I was able to find few papers and catalogs showing this calculation for snap rings with rectangular cross-section but for the circular cross-section type they had mentioned detaching speed (the rpm in which the ring detaches from the shaft or bore. Is it that snap rings with circular cross-section do not axial load retaining capacity? If there is any means to narrow down to approx load it would help me significantly.
