Some folks think you can't be a true engineer if you have other things you would like to do. I wonder what da Vinci would have thought about that?
To me it's pretty clear that engineering isn't something I do for a living, or what I learned in school... it's central to what I am, from the time I was a small child, building things in the basement, ever more complex. About the only other thing that ever interested me as a career was being a pilot. Not airline flying, boring aerial bus driving, but Alaskan bush pilot... not really practical. Instead I fly for fun (and engineering is a large part of messing with a homebuilt plane). In another era, I'd probably have been a blacksmith or boat builder or something like that.
Engineering is not a profession but it is a vocation. You can become whatever you want...but not an engineer. You can born engineer, not become it.
Probably still locked into a dead end job never taking a chance on myself, and most definitely wouldn't have a patent. ;-)
I was born with technical intuitiveness, from the design and fabrication of toys to the design and fabrication of present day agricultural implements. What more can I say.???....hahahahah
I would definitely be a chef, would open my own catering services and would later venture on restaurant business.
