Our Lead Product Developer must be results-driven, and have a passion for delivering innovative product experiences with impeccable quality. This senior level engineer is comfortable leading projects from concept ideation through component / system design & development to final production. The individual must be capable of creating high quality mechanical, electro-mechanical and assembly designs using parametric 3D CAD models. The final product designs must achieve client / end-user requirements, and emphasize the merging of aesthetic design intent with proficient implementation. The selected candidate must also thrive on collaborating with project team members from multiple disciplines (including industrial design, usability, electrical engineering, manufacturing and marketing), as well as different cultures. Cutting-edge work management tools and expert guidance will be provided to help you deliver successfully on simultaneous projects.

Job Tasks - Creative / Technical

      * Invent top-level / subsystem concepts (e.g. mechanisms); build quick mockups to validate feasibility; coordinate fabrication of working prototypes.

      * Create electro-mechanical part and assembly designs using parametric 3D CAD tools, with emphasis on aesthetic design intent implementation; develop internal component layouts / stack-ups / space-studies as necessary.

      * Generate complete mechanical manufacturing package for suppliers, including: 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, top-level BOMs, part and system-level specifications.

      * Define mechanical reliability test procedures to validate performance goals; verify compliance with applicable EMC safety certifications; coordinate testing and compile results documentation.

      * Research and propose innovative technology enablers (e.g. materials, components); recognize / target potential areas for patent protection.

      * Lead / participate in brainstorm sessions and other team meetings; define design priorities and performance goals based on client objectives.

      * Identify / engage / interview potential Contract Manufacturers & other suppliers; visit / evaluate possible manufacturing partners to review their production capabilities and readiness.

      * Review tooling designs to verify quality of fit & finish implementation; support manufacturing partners to resolve issues during design transfer / transition to mass production.

      * Design / review manufacturing test fixtures and procedures; review & approve initial production samples; analyze and test field returns to determine root cause of failure, and propose / implement corrective action(s).

      Job Tasks - Leadership

      * Organize and lead project update presentations / design reviews; prepare visual materials for describing complex engineering concepts (screenshots / photos, videos, etc.) for internal team, supplier and client communication.
