You will be the lead responsible for the introduction of new product designs in fiber optic and electrical interconnects while also playing a key role in process improvement initiatives. You get to work with a talented team of engineers who design and build power distribution systems panels, interconnects, and assemblies.       Objectives of the Lead Mechanical Engineer

      New position created for a Sr. level Mechanical Engineer to lead new interconnect product design efforts using the Product Development Process from product concept through production. Provide technical support on interconnect products to customers, suppliers and inside personnel. Coordinate interconnect product activities with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and quality using the engineering change request (ECR) procedures.

      Manage qualification efforts with government agencies and test labs to achieve QPL status. Supervise the teams engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity. Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.

      Responsibilities

      Create 3D modeling drawings using Inventor/Solidworks. Provide technical and statistical expertise to the quality control and production group. Responsible for loading all products released BOM’s (Bill of Material) and Material Master data sheets through software. Perform design verification activities to ensure that designs meet the specifications of the customer and government requirements.
      Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures. Perform internal audits and prepare organization for ISO & AS audit. Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel within the Company. Maintain an active role on internal Continuous Improvement teams. Assist the management team and provide QA support as necessary.

      Ideal Candidate Background

      A mechanical engineer with experience in power distribution panels or aerospace / defense systems interconnects with a strong hands-on working knowledge of mechanical principles, electrical/mechanical layout, machining practices and strong computer skills. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and have demonstrated working with government agencies and aerospace or defense customers.
      A strong background with various materials and material properties (metal, alloys, plastics, rubber, etc) is essential. Experience with ISO9001 & AS9100 requirements, DOD 4120.24M, SD-6, & Mil-STD-790 and 3D modeling experience (AutoDesk Inventor, Dassault Systems Solidworks or Catia) is required. High preference for candidate who currently or recently have worked for Amphenol Aerospace, ITT Cannon, Aero Electric Connector, Carlisle Interconnects, Conesys, Souriau or Esterline, GlenAir, Corsair Electrical Connectors, RMS Connectors, or DCX-CHOL.

      Requirements to Apply for this Role

      A BSME with a minimum of 5+ years working in defense or aerospace in designing interconnect products (electrical circular connectors that use MIL-STD-790, MIL-DTL-22992, MIL-DTL-28840, and./or MIL-DTL-5015. Must have solid project management, 3D modeling (AutoCAD AutoDesk Inventor, Solidworks, and/or Catia), and tooling design experience. You MUST demonstrate an in-depth knowledge in defense or aerospace interconnects from start to finish (design concept through to production). If your experience is in telecom, automotive, or consumer products, you are NOT a fit.
