      MDF Newsletter: Mar 7th 2010

Win a 3D mouse.. only a week or so to go!
Not long left until the prize draw! You only have until the 19th March to write your 3 posts in the forum for your chance to win a SpaceNavigator 3D mouse. Please note that posts written before the competition was announced on 7th Feb don’t count! For more info on the prize draw click here. At present only a handful of people are actually meeting the basic criteria for entry into the draw, so I would encourage you to post because you might have a really good chance of winning!

      Cast your vote:
We have a few polls going on in the forum at the moment. Please visit them (links below) and cast your vote:
      1) Design Week Awards 2010. Vote for the best product
      2) Metric or imperial – which one should rule (excuse the pun)?
      3) What is the best 3D modeller?
      4) Where are you from?
      5) How did you find the Mechanical Design Forum?

      Interesting or unanswered posts:
      1) How do you calculate the length of a tapered helix?
      2) Advice needed on Designing A Mini Controlling Car
      3) How to make fasteners captive on machine guards?
      4) Mig welding advice needed
      5) Minimum shell thickness of pressure vessel - advice needed
      6) Anyone know anything about Modeling Half-Sine Shock Load in Cosmosworks?
      7) Any help, or comments are welcome on Stirling engine & solar furnace plans

Publicity campaign for the Mechanical Design Forum!
You have probably noticed the ads on the forum homepage. The funds raised from these are currently being used to advertise the forum better on the internet (for example, through LinkedIn DirectAds and The Engineer)

It is very much hoped that all this will generate much more traffic to the Mechanical Design Forum and boost membership.

      Link to us
We’ve been working hard trying to boost membership with various PR and online ad campaigns. However, if there’s anything you can do to help spread the word about the forum I would very much appreciate it: If you get the opportunity, please pass on a link to the forum to any other mechanical design engineers, industrial designers or product designers you might know. Alternatively if you have a blog or website, I would very much encourage you to link to us.

Here is a button that you could use as a link on your website or blog. Please point the link towards http://www.mechanicaldesignforum.com/forum
