Hi, First post here!!! looking forward to the feedback. I am relatively new to a mechanical design role. In my present job, we are manufacturing a steel 'box' type structure that will take impact. I can post an image shortly but I would be eager to hear other enginners approach to such problems. for example...creating a free body diagram...... how to understand the forces at play......simplyfying the problem for calculations.......applying empirical formulae....using FEA....finding relevent standards....verifying the results etc etc. What is the correct approach to take?? Really appreciate some feedback and I am eager to get some success with my forst real mechanical design problem. We are going to have to comply to the machinery directive with the part we are making. Cheers, D
I think that knowing the standards goes at the beginning of the process, but otherwise all of them in that order is correct.
