Mechanical Design Engineer – Winnipeg, Canada Reports to: Global Engineering Manager, Western Global Australia Pty Ltd Purpose of the position: Western Global designs, manufactures and supplies industry leading tanks and equipment for industrial liquid handling. An opportunity has become available for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Global Engineer Team in Winnipeg, Canada. You will be reporting directly to the Global Engineering Manager and be responsible for ensuring allocated quotation/bids/projects are completed effectively and adhere to quality standards and engineering procedures. In this role, you will be working with the Mechanical Design Team based in Winnipeg, Canada to provide engineering design support allocated to our growing team of Business Development Managers (BDM) throughout North America. You will responsible for technical specifications and designs throughout the bid process/project phases for all engineering related matters. Requirements: Degree qualified or equivalent (Mechanical) Minimum 5 years’ experience. Be eligible at the time of application to legally work and stay in Canada. Tasks: Assist in ensuring Western Global maintains the highest level of safety, quality, efficiency, cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction. Work in conjunction and effectively communicate with BDMs, production, providing timely calculations / designs / drawings through the bid process and project phases. Pump, motor and pipe sizing – requirements. Design experience in containerised self-bunded fuel storage tanks (ASME / ASTM / CSA / AS1940/AS1692/AS1657/UL) required. Investigation, problem solving and fault finding of fuel pumping equipment is required. Own and drive the engineering bid process and project phases, from start to finish ensuring our engineering data is compliant while meeting tight deadlines. Reviewing, analysing and interpreting customer/supplier data and specifications. Experience at a highly proficient level with SolidWorks/AutoCAD during bid processes and project execution. Minimum 3 years (recent). Project manage design and some constructions. Assist in estimation of tenders. Look for and implement continuous improvement of existing products. Development and implementation of procedures relating to installation, testing and end user operational manuals for equipment, including maintenance schedules, spare parts lists. Assist in the design of quality control documentation/manuals to suit each product. Liaise with suppliers, production, sales, industry experts, project managers, site engineers to establish correct application for each product. Research and ensure all products are and remain code compliant to the latest standard. Own and drive new product designs, from start to finish ensuring our products are globally compliant. Highly proficient with SolidWorks/AutoCAD. Provide technical support and guidance to workshop fabrication teams. Explore opportunities to minimize cost associated with compliance needs. Drive a PRO-CUSTOMER culture in order to provide proactive and timely customer service to internal and external customers. Degree qualified or equivalent (Mechanical) Minimum 5 years ‘experience. HAZOP, AS1940/AS1692/AS1657/UL and risk assessment process. SolidWorks 2014 SP5 Experience – Minimum 3 years (recent). Writing reports and documentation. Providing technical advice Reviewing, analyzing and interpreting customer/supplier data and specifications.
