      Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
      Reporting to: Technical Manager
      Education: Degree (2:1 or above) in Mechanical Engineering
      Industrial Experience: Minimum two years post-graduation in UK.
      Location: South Hertfordshire UK
      Start: ASAP

      Mechanical Design Engineer required to work for a small design to manufacture company developing commercial heating products.

      Skills required;
      Ideally candidates will have two years post-graduation industrial experience covering;

      1. 3D Product design (SolidWorks preferred).
      2. 2D drawing (DraftSight preferred).
      3. Sheet metal design.
      4. Product documentation.
      5. Basic fluid mechanics knowledge.
      6. Basic thermodynamics knowledge.
      7. Knowledge of commercial and domestic heating systems preferred.

      Candidates must be flexible as we are a small company so we must all take on a variety of responsibilities. Candidates must be self-motivated as project deadlines are typically set internally and pushed forward by the engineers.

      Principle Duties;

      1. Produce product specifications.
      2. Produce BOM’s and costings.
      3. Overall product design for manufacture, safety, cost optimisation and reliability.
      4. Liaise with current/new suppliers to source new components to ensure products are using the latest technology.
      5. Produce all necessary supporting product literature such as, data sheets, pipe schematics, wiring diagrams and instruction manuals.
      6. Review industry standards and assist in the CE certification for the products.
      7. Build product prototypes.
      8. Testing prototypes.
      9. Maintain and improve test rig.
      10. Produce update reports for management.
      11. Assist with the setup of production by teaching the production staff how to build products and produce any supporting build instructions.
      12. Define quality control inspections for products.
      13. Provide technical support for the product, on site if necessary.
      14. Investigate part failures; implement solutions if required and maintain records using the quality control system.
      15. Adhering to the company policy and H&S rules.
