      As a Mechanical Design Engineer with the team in Surrey, you will work on the next generation of satellite communicationequipment and leading-edge military and humanitarian sensors, including design/drawing of tactical satcom systems and advanced handheld ‘metal detector’ like products, as well as sensors mounted on small robotic land platforms. It is the perfect opportunity for an experienced mechanical design engineer to work on leading-edge projects.

      As a Mechanical Design Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

      Demonstrated experience in mechanical design using 3D CAD software, ideally Solidworks, gained within electromechanical environment
      Good knowledge of various manufacturing techniques and materials
      Understanding of design office data management / change control
      Previous experience of using FEA type software for thermal or stress analysis is desirable as is familiarity with antennas, SATCOM terminals and/or radar systems

      As a Mechanical Design Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:

      Mechanical design of portable and mobile satellite communications antennas and terminals, working in close co-operation with RF design engineers.
      Design of environmentally sealed mechanical enclosures, for portable, manned vehicle/robot and handheld devices, including integration of electronics and sensor antennas systems
      Creating 3D CAD models and 2D drawings to British Standard and Company QA Procedures
      Providing support to on-site manufacturing facility and ensuring components are designed for both function and ease of manufacture, design-to-cost and ease of assembly/support and maintenance
      Providing technical support in bid preparation and costing
