I am currently seeking employment as a mechanical engineer (check out http://linkedin.com/in/matthewhjones). Though I have just finished my PhD in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, I consider myself a practical and hands-on mechanical designer. I have worked at AHMCT and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where I have experience many aspects in the research and development of electromechanical systems, including: CAD, FEA, conceptual and detail design, modeling and simulation, design for manufacture/assembly, prototyping, troubleshooting, testing, and electronics selection and integration. My courses have focused on solid mechanics, dynamics, modeling and simulation of electromechanical systems. I have extensive experience modeling and simulating physical systems and with collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data. Check out a couple videos of projects I have worked on: CNC Wood Mill Debris Removal Machine I am currently in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, but I am willing to relocate. Specialties: Machine design, mechatronics, robotics, solid mechanics, classical mechanics (dynamics and statics), kinematics, modeling and simulation of electromechanical systems, energy systems, and research.
