We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Bethel, CT design team to perform research, design and development in the scope of mechanical engineering. In this role you will apply research to the planning, design, development and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines and you will be called upon to handle particularly challenging technical issues. Major Accountabilities: 1. Responsible for evaluating customer requirements for design. Coordinates activities of the project team to accomplish tasks within schedule and budget constraints. 2. Works with Sales and Design personnel to develop designs. Interfaces with customer as required. 3. Responsible for generating engineering drawings and layouts to meet Customer, Engineering and Manufacturing requirements. 4. Design products from basic ideas or sketches. 5. Responsible for performing stress, failure mode and effects analysis and reliability analysis. 6. Responsible for conflict resolution of design/engineering issues with Customer, Engineering, Sales and Manufacturing. 7. Responsible for technical documentation (QTP, ATP, CMM) and report writing. 8. Responsible for organization of data in engineering project files. 9. Produces detailed proposals, in cooperation with Lead Project Engineer. Job Requirements : Physical Limitations: Work may require sitting up to eight (8) hours per day, standing up to eight (8) hours per day, writing, effective communication, and travel. Work may require lifting of components weighing up to 50 lbs. Flexible work hours may be required. Minimum Education Required: Bachelorâ€™s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering. Minimum Years of Experience Required: Five (5) years in a Mechanical Design Engineering capacity within the Aerospace industry. Two (2) years experience with Pro/E (Wildfire) CAD. Two (2) years experience Pro/E Mechanica or equivalent. FEA experience. Extensive knowledge of stress analysis techniques. Knowledge of drafting practices, manufacturing methods and MIL specifications are highly desirable.
