      Hi everybody,

I want to design a mould for a carbon fiber reinfored plastic parts.

Looking at the material choice I find many options. What is the criteria to choose a material?

We bake the parts in an oven at 80-120ºC (175-250ºF); so thermal expansion is important.

Also we tighten the mould with many screws with high torque; hardness is important.

Thermal conductivity, the higher the better.

What are the parameters one has to look into? I find steels with very similar properties, I don't understand what makes the difference.

      thank you in advance
      regards
