      Hi,

I'm looking to make a part that overmolds black PC around a clear PC window.

I can't find any decent info on how you should design the interface between them. Everything I found talks about moulding TPE around a substrate.

I assume there would be a chemical interlock between the two parts. Any ideas on how to design the shut-off area?

      Many thanks!

      Hello:

we have done one mould like this.
1st shot is black with metal insert, 2nd shot is clear.
please pay attetion to chose raw material, compare the MFI and melting temperature. make sure window area will not with black line. and 2 PC can still together.
we spend 3 months to finish this project, just for mould testing, again and again.
      good luck to you.

i doubt about the 2 layout of PC moulding. as far as i know, the two layout material must in different hardness and temprature property.
i have just done a product for a Mine customer in Australia, i can share the picture tomorrow for your reference.
