Principal Engineer (Shock & Dynamics) – 25654 An opportunity has arisen for a skilled Principal Engineer focusing on shock and dynamics to join a busy team responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the Submarine are compliant with the whole boat shock requirements. This Principal Engineer position will be based at BAE Systems’ site in beautiful Barrow-In-Furness. As a Principal Engineer focusing on shock and dynamics your main responsibilities will involve: Development of modular mount arrangement and supporting structures design to provide shock protection and vibration isolation for equipment and systems Interacting within multi-functional teams Liaising with internal/external customers (Rolls-Royce, MoD, Project Teams) Providing advice and guidance in specialist areas to the project Technical assessment of design – assessing against design codes & fitness for purpose Within the Shock & Dynamics area you will be carrying out Mechanical and Structural design and analysis Advanced finite element modelling and analysis and mathematical coding As Principal Engineer focusing on shock and dynamics your skills and qualifications must include Mechanical / Structural engineering design awareness (Ideally submarine, ship or related fields) Practical experience of Classical Stress Analysis Experience of using Finite Element Analysis and modelling Experience of Mathematical Modelling Understanding of material properties As Principal Engineer focusing on shock and dynamics your skills and qualifications will ideally include: Chartered status in related field Knowledge/experience in Maritime or Off-Shoring Knowledge of mounting technology Knowledge of fluid structure interaction analysis tools/codes – Abaqus ideally What we’re looking for in you: Good analysis and communication capabilities as well as an ability to work well in a high pressure and multi-discipline environment.
