    1. Our Ex-Or business is part of our Electrical Devices & Systems (ED&S) Division. At Ex-or we manufacture lighting controls for all applications including, presence detection, lighting management systems, architectural dimming and scene-setting and emergency lighting testing systems. Ex-Or systems help customers achieve energy savings, reduce fuel bills, and create a optimum environment for staff or visitors.
      Ex-Or's sophisticated presence detection technology, which forms the basis of its stand-alone LightSpot range and the networked MLS Digital system, is used extensively in the public and private sector, enhancing the working environment and saving organisations millions of pounds each year by reducing energy bills.
      At our Ex-or site in Haydock, we are seeking an experienced Hardware Design Engineer for development of lighting control products.

      The role will include:
      • New product design and existing product improvement and evolution
      • Hardware — analogue, power electronics and digital circuits
      • Maintenance of documentation
      • External EMC and LVD product testing and certification
      • Internal technical support to Product Manager and Technical Sales Support Team, including some generation of written technical material and proof reading
      • Value engineering and dealing with component obsolescence

      • For manufacturing

      • For customers — occasional on-site presence required

      Skills & Experience Required

      The successful candidate is likely to be educated to degree level, and demonstrate the following:
      • A deep understanding of the fundamentals of electronics; transistors and op-amps
      • Enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and immaculate attention to detail with a methodical approach
      • Ability to take a project from concept right through to production with a ‘can do’ attitude and minimal supervision
      • Capability to work to a structured product design and development process
      • Experience of high volume design for manufacture
      • Knowledge of installation wiring practices
      • Good written English skills required
