Product Design Engineer POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Top 4 Must Haves for the Ideal Candidate: 1. Bachelorâ€™s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Masterâ€™s Degree preferred. 2. 5+ yearsâ€™ Consumer Product Development experience. 3. 5+ yearsâ€™ Manufacturing experience (related experience in plastic molding, metal fabrication, etc. preferred). 4. Significant ProE/SolidWorks/3D CAD experience. Company Overview: Based in Emporia, Kansas our client is an automotive aftermarket products manufacturer & distributor of towing electrical, winter snow and ice tools, fluid management tools, vehicle cleaning and vehicle accessory products. Requirements: Â· Bachelorâ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Â· Product development background and related CAD experience, including Solid Works and/or Pro/Engineer. Â· Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, especially injection molding and metal fabrication. Â· Strong creativity and communication skills. Responsibilities: Â· Present new product ideas that fit the companyâ€™s policy to the Product Team. Â· Assume full authority and responsibility for the completion of product development, product testing, and product design. Â· Assume responsibility for the project budget to maintain the expenditures within the approved budget. Â· Report on project status to the Engineering Manager and the Product Team as required. Â· Assist Manufacturing Engineering in the determination and documentation of process instructions. Â· Recommend action as needed to protect the rights of the company in patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Help secure patents on products where good claims will be allowed. Â· Develop and approve Q.C. Standards as needed on new products being developed to assure a high quality standard is maintained.
