General Mills is seeking a Project Engineer for a Mid-Size Midwestern City who will be responsible for executing capital projects including scope development, cost estimation, system design, equipment sizing and selection, procurement, installation, check-out, and start-up. The role will include opportunities to work on projects of all sizes MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In this role you will: â€¢Execute capital projects as lead engineer: Manage research, budget, schedule, communication/team work, downtime planning, and system performance. Depending on project scope, responsibilities may also include overall project management, construction management, and start-up. â€¢Support or lead capital projects from conceptual phases through project close-out including scope development, cost estimation, system design, risk assessment, equipment sizing and selection, procurement, installation, check-out, and start-up. â€¢Offer production support and troubleshooting assistance to Engineers,Team Leaders, and Maintenance. â€¢Interface with business unit team - maintain close working relationships with R&D, quality, manufacturing, operations leadership, and financial operations. â€¢Provide innovative technical solutions required to meet business objectives with emphasis on productivity. â€¢Provide support to annual capital planning process, which may include development and management of the capital program for an operating department. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS â€¢ BS in Engineering from ABET-accredited program â€¢ 3 years of experience, 5 preferred â€¢ Successful history of executing capital projects and improvements. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS â€¢ Experience working with plant operators, leadership staff, outside vendors, contractors, and engineering firms. â€¢ Good understanding of processing and packaging equipment and systems. â€¢ Working knowledge of plant manufacturing, engineering, quality, and research functions. Preferably in a food environment. â€¢ Experience with continuous improvement, LEAN, Six Sigma, TPM, or related processes. REQUIRED JOB COMPETENCIES â€¢Demonstrated skills in executing several concurrent assignments. â€¢Demonstrated technical leadership, analytical and problem solving skills, decision making, trouble-shooting, communications, team management, and interpersonal skills.
