      Rolls-Royce wish to recruit Mechanical Design Engineers to join our Submarines Business. Working as a Mechanical Design Engineer within Rolls-Royce Plc for the Submarine Business, you'll be at the forefront of technology, designing and supporting the nuclear reactor cores that power some of the world's most advanced submarines. Rolls-Royce is a world-leader in nuclear submarine systems and support services incorporating design, procurement and operation. For the past fifty years, we have been the Technical Authority for the UK Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP). They are responsible for powering the whole of the UK's Royal Navy submarine fleet.

      Our Support & Development (S&D) Operational Business Unit (OBU), is primarily responsible for the design, development and implementation of bespoke in-service support equipment. We also provide bespoke design solutions for a variety of fuel handling applications for both submarine and shore based facilities, for the submarines business and a wider customer base. The forward business plan includes significant growth into the civil nuclear market, for which we are already supplying a number of design and implementation solutions.

      We are currently seeking to recruit highly talented Mechanical Engineers for these key roles:

      • Mechanical Design Engineer - Fuel Handling,
      • Mechanical Design Engineer - Special Purpose Machines,
      • Mechanical Design Engineer - Radioactive Materials Transport,
      • Mechanical Design Engineer - Pressure Vessels.

      Key Accountabilities:

      • You will be responsible for the delivery of the full design life-cycle, for a range of applications & equipment in the relevant specialist area, from requirements capture through to concept and final design stages.
      • You will be required to produce relevant design schemes, stress calculations and reports as appropriate, whilst articulating your design solutions to key stakeholders.
