I need to shot-blast a texture on an aluminium die-casting. Can anyone recommend an internationally recognised standard for specifying the grade or texture? Preferably one that's easily regocnised by Chinese suppliers. Thanks!
Usually you specify the bead material and size, the distance from the surface, and the amount of time you're blasting it for. If you're dealing with China, your best bet is to get a sample of something you feel is acceptable, and provide that sample to match. Otherwise there will be a lot of back-and-forth......
If anyone else is looking for answers on this, here are a full useful replies to my original question over at our LinkedIn group: and and I'll probably buy one of those comparators. They are pretty useful actually - I have a similar kind of thing for specifying machining roughness. The table posted above looks also quite handy. I will have to convert it to a more "easy to read format", though!
