Hello, I am a Masters student and I am doing research on the programs used to design environmentally friendly products. I know Autodesk Inventor has a sustainable design feature. Do you or anyone you know use this program to design personal computers? I am trying to get in contact with designers, manufacturers, or engineers that have experience with designing environmentally friendly PCs. Thank you.
Hi HKiwi, This's Kevin,a mechanical engineer. I'm a Inventor user but don't understand the exactlly meaning of "sustainble design feature". Maybe you could tell me something more detailed and see if I could help.
Dear Kevin, Thank you for your reply. I understand that Autodesk Inventor Software has a tool called the the Eco Materials Advisor. It enables engineers to make more sustainable design decisions by exposing information on environmental impact, cost, and performance to guide materials selection. Are you familiar with using this tool? Thank you again for your help.
Hello HKiwi, I use Inventor 2011 at the present,Eco Materials Advisor which is new function in Inventor 2012.Sorry can't help you.But I do look forward to learn more about that.
I am an Inventor Professional 2013 User ... for material, I use ECO Material Adviser to choose material, also it can compare the environment impact of current material with other material. so I can choose which one is the best one ... In the picture above, I have some example what i do in food container ... for strength, I use "Parametric Table" stress analysis to search the optimum size of my design. So there will be no "Over Design and Over material"...
I recommend ECO Material Adviser too its a great tool to use and I believe with a little playing with it will give you the skills to develop and design better objects in the environment. Hope you find what your looking for good luck.
