Hello my dear friends, i need your your valuable suggestions about swivel motorized motion. You can understand the motion from the picture. This rotation is provided by dc gear motor slowly, totally about 270 degree about right and left. 135 degree right, 135 degree left by remote control. The load over the system is about 50kg. To provide this motion how alternatives can be created, which of them are suitable and feasible.
**system says the picture is big so i added it by flickr link.

two ways spring to mind but i dont doubt you will have thought of both
1 a geared system (so a smaller motor can be used) using either belts or actual gears. for this to work with any degree of control however you would probably want to use a stepper motor. All this plus the control could work out expensive.
2 The way I would prefer to do it would be a worm gear. You could use any reduction you wanted to get enough control.

    4. How much wear can you allow for the gear tho?

      wear is not so important.
