      Team Leader – Mechanical Engineering £50-60k depending upon experience, near London.

      The company uses a unique combination of technologies including permanent magnet motors, air bearings, power electronics and control systems and advanced thermo and aerodynamics to deliver commercial applications.


      The leader of the Mechanical Engineering team will be responsible for the development and management of the company’s capability in mechanical design and development and the delivery of projects in the field of high speed and ancillary equipment.

      Key Duties

      •Design & develop – systems to meet client objectives
      •Deliver – build and test systems to achieve client acceptance with assured quality through application of processes and procedures and maintenance of design build and test documentation
      •Client liaison – collaboration and issue resolution
      •Manage – the team to deliver their technical and project objectives in a cost-effective and controlled manner and supervise team members

      Working Pattern

      The Mechanical Engineering Leader will be accountable to the Head of Operations and maintain close links to the Chief Mechanical Engineer and Programme Management Office. They will direct and manage the task level activities of their team and supervise their day-to-day activities.
      This is a permanent post, and the holder will be part of the company operations management team.

      Skills and Experience

      The ME Team Leader will have sufficient breadth and depth of skills and experience to have a system-wide overview of the deliverable technology. This will ideally include sufficient knowledge of the design and development of high speed rotating equipment and machines, general mechanical design and analysis.
      Experience of technical development tools including Solidedge 3D modelling and FEA (Ansys), FMEA, rotor dynamics analysis.

      Familiarity with design and development process controls, document and configuration management will be required including the programme development, task allocation to key specialists and progress tracking within the mechanical engineering team.

      The Mechanical Engineering Team Leader role would suit candidates who are currently a design manager, mechanical design manager, development manager, development supervisor, design supervisor, design team leader, development team leader, senior development engineer.
