Please use this thread to tell us what you think about the Mechanical Design Forum. What can we do to make this a better or more successful place? Any suggestions or comments will be greatly appreciated. :)

      Hi

I joined this forum today. It is nice to be here. I hope and wish it would prove a helpful place for every one joining this forum. May be it is too early to start suggesting. But take it as a request. Please change the color of text of buttons from the dark blue to some thing which is more visible in black background. Also "founder member'" or "Forum Founder" is my humble suggestion in place of "Forum Owner"

Re: Forum Owner or Forum Founder

Thanks Faraz. Welcome to the forum and thanks for the suggestions!

This drives me crazy too and I tried changing it a few weeks ago and made complete mess of it (I'm new to this "php" stuff). I might have another go soon.

I was actually thinking of changing it to something else - "Forum Founder" might be the way to go... :D

Thanks for the reply. In fact I was very hesitant to start giving suggestion the very first day.
I once hosted a forum and i used 'simple machine forum' http://www.simplemachines.org/ . I found it very good. It is also very popular. Have you explored it?

Hi Faraz. I've not explored Simple Machines, but I have been using phpBB for a while and I really like it.

There is a ridiculously short time given to edit your post before edits are banned. I favour allowing edits at any time but if you have to impose a limit think days rather than minutes. A compromise would be hours.

Thanks for the feedback Peter. I'll look at extending the editing time. It might be useful to know that you can also save posts as drafts if you've written something you're not ready to post.
