Anyone in the UK might want to check out this new TV series "The Genius of Design" (BBC Two, 7:30pm on Saturdays). The first episode (summary below) explores the origins of industrial design / mass production. Quite inspiring to watch, in fact (I feel like going and designing a teapot or something now!) If you missed the episodes you can view it on iPlayer (Link below) Link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... or_Living/ Synopsis of episode 1
I know what you mean Gareth - a great program. A wonderful insight into industrial design. I thought the section on the Dreyfuss 500 desk phone was really good (http://www.pedlars.co.uk/page_1679.html). Far more enlightening than watching Seymour & Powell and their 'Designs on your...' series for channel 4 a few years ago. Looking forward to next week's program.
I see that the BBC are releasing the series on DVD in a few weeks time. Link: http://www.bbcshop.com/History/The-Geni ... nvt/av9799
