OK here is a challenge - the top 5 products you would like to design (can be transport, chairs, a plate - anything). Mine are (in no particular order): 1. A CAT truck http://tinyurl.com/yhh2n3u 2. A desk light 3. A desktop 3D printer 4. An SLR or film camera http://tinyurl.com/yks9x2y 5. hand held MRI scanner http://tinyurl.com/yg6w4w2 PS the list was longer...
Great question! 1. A Chair - having the oportunity to go to town on styling but finding a balance with comfort and ergonomics 2. A Transformer (plastic toy, not a real one......) 3. A real Transformer 4. A new International Space Station - Sadly dissapointed that the current ISS isnt a giant rotating (artificial gravity) space port with running streams and 360 degree panoramic viewing decks... 5. The new Route Master Bus
No 1 in my list below is not really mechanical design, but never mind... 1. Set or prop design for TV or movie SF. 2. Something for the space industry (I know a mechanical designer who's designed bits of satellites, and I'd love to have something I designed floating around in space too!) 3. A robot. 4. A musical instrument (probably a guitar). 5. I'll come back later when I've thought of a "5"
I especially like to finish a project and submit it even virtually (through renderings) before having it built physically But I do not think of anything at the moment...maybe later
In no Particular order... 1. Off road vehicle 2. kids toys 3. devices for the handicapped 4. military weapons/equipment 5. props for sci-fi movies 6.... OMG a flippin jet pack! wouldnt that rock!
Good question and good replies too top 5 things I planned to design and fabricate are 1) An open source linux based CAD/CAM 2) A food factory that run manually (by hand) but deliver almost same result as present eletric ones. 3) Mini injection molding machine to start my own molding busines. First only mechanical then CNC. 4) Piping system for domestic water supply, that can be accessable any time and also hidden, so nobody can see without drawings. 5)A robot, but not clear what type.
