Hello Friends !!!! I want to design a valve operating worm gearbox. The output shaft is to be designed on the basis of Torsional rigidity. So please anybody tell me What Twist angle should be consider ?? I have considered 3[SUP]0[/SUP]/meter Is it right ???
An arbitrary number of 3°/m might be correct, but it just as likely may not. You need to define how much twist is acceptable for the system to function correctly, and then size the shaft accordingly. Whatever motion is lost due to the shaft twisting, you need that much extra motion in the gearbox output shaft.
Actually, In the design already I have, twist angle 0.25 deg./m is taken. But it is used in Tooling. That is why i was confused.
