      Michael Page Engineering Design is partnering Bridon International in recruiting a high calibre Polymer Technologist to be based at the companies Technology Centre also in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

      Job Description

      The Polymer Technologist should be a genuine technical specialist with a thorough and deep knowledge of Polymer Design and Polymers processes obtained ideally through a combination of academic research and industrial experience.

      Reporting to the Group Product Development and Technology Centre Manager you will be responsible for the continued research, design and development of new and existing products, specifically in relation to Polymers and Lubricants which is a hugely important aspect of the Wire and Fibre Rope solutions.

      Responsibilities include-


      • Problem solve and propose solutions based on previous knowledge or experience
      • Technology scan and blue sky, creative thinking
      • Initiate, lead and co-ordinate NPD initiatives
      • Identify new material technologies
      • Identify product/ process enhancement opportunities
      Communication/ Reporting

      • Prepare and maintain technical reports
      • Prepare technical presentation
      • Liaise directly with customers and understand market requirements
      The Successful Applicant

      To be considered for this Polymer Technologist role you will be experienced with the following points:

      • Educated to Engineering Degree level (Mechanical or Materials with a Polymer Specialism)
      • Postgraduate or PhD level Academic Research Experience/ Qualification
      • Knowledge of Polymer Science and Engineering
      • Practical experience of working with different types of Polymers and Composites
      • Research experience on the production and investigation of advanced and novel polymers, fibres and composite materials
      • Research experience with lubricantant specifications and development (Desirable)
      • Chartered Engineer Status (Desirable)
      • Knowledge of FEA analysis (Desirable)
      • New product and process development experience (Desirable)
      • Ability to perform detailed experimental investigations (Desirable)
      Importantly to fit well into the organisation you should be a team-player, interact well at all levels, have the ability to problem solve and work well under pressure. General communication and inter-personal skills are also key.

      The range of salary on offer is between £30-50,000 + benefits depending upon experience.
