Hello all, I'm after 24V waterproof (splash proof) electrical connectors - similar to those used in and around car engines. Any idea where I might be able to find them or at least what the technical name is? I need to get electrical cables in a very damp atmosphere into a sealed box to a PCB, but would need to be able to disconnect them for access, convenience and sabotage. (2 out of the 3 anyway...) RS's only solution was a £10 inline water proof single terminal block which seems a bit expensive! Any pointers welcome!
Hi Pete. What IP rating and temperature range do you need? Souriau make pretty decent bayonet style plugs with bulkhead connectors http://www.souriau.com/ You could also check out Harting http://www.harting.co.uk/ They make "push-pull" quick release connectors. LTW http://www.ltw-tech.com/ also have a wide choice and are perhaps a lower cost option. All have reps in the UK and you might be able to get hold of samples on RS/Farnell, or perhaps through Digikey or Mouser if you're really stuck! Hope this helps.
There must be a distributor in the UK for SureSeal connectors. They are widely used on landmoving equipment. http://www.suresealconnections.com/
Thanks for the link. I'm always on the lookout for options of this kind of thing and I didn't know about these guys.
In Agriculture stuff, we use a lot of Deutsch Connectors and also Weatherpack Connectors. I prefer the Deutsch because you can get a lot more connections in a much smaller space, and they seem to keep out water better than the weatherpacks do.
