Hi everyone, this is my first time on this forum :)

I came across this video online and I dont understand spanish, but the gear working system is really interesting and I think it is suitable for my school project.

      This is the video:
      wdodjuVC45k&feature=relmfu
(skip to 2mins to watch it in action)

Does anybody know what is the name of the gears or what concept does it use?

I am quite new to mechanical design so there are some parts I can't really identify..

Thanks all and i really appreciate anybody's help.:)

      That's a neat toy!
Looks like a planetary or epicyclic gear train.

The gear setup is a sun and planet system, the sun gear is the center one and the planet gears are the larger outer ones. To convert the oscillating motion of the hand wheel to a rotational movement of the sun gear it looks as if there is a sprag clutch in the hand wheel hub.

Any profile when meshed together that produce a motion, so the profile can be termed as a gear

Why do you say it can produce energy?

The mechanism is clearly moving because of the energy applied by the person pulsing the handwheel.
