We use dbroberts company for most of the threaded studs and fasteners we use especially the press in style. They'll also give samples if you need them. Also check out southco for handles and latches and things like that.
Misumi first, then McMaster for general parts and fasteners. Fastenal of course for fasteners as well. There's a whole bunch of places I used to use, but these days it seems like if Misumi or McM doesn't have it, I don't need it

A bit of advice from someone who has spent a lot of time searching for parts on the internet - define as much as possible what you are looking for before you start searching, otherwise your search could be a very long one or even worse, you could end up with a second ( or third, or... ) best solution for the application. There are those who think that whatever they are searching for is just waiting for them to be found, but the online catalogs can not do your job for you. They can only help. When you know exactly what you are looking for ( type of product, standard, material ), Google is usually good enough. Or if I rephrase that - it works for me. Another thing - find a supplier as close to you as possible ( physically, as in a warehouse or a store ). You will be thankful for that the moment something goes wrong.

I've never had a problem finding what I want on the internet. Maybe it is because I don't use Google as my primary search engine. Sometimes it takes several searches with different keywords, but I always find what I want. I use Dogpile, a meta search engine. AceEngineer
